Hi All,

We put a hold on a MY22 due to arrive in June (or may get an earlier C40) coming from a 2019 XC60, been reading about TCAM issues with the platform including the P*2 that we were considering.

Question during a communication failure can you setup your phone (iPhone) as a Wifi Hotspot and use that for data ? I guess the GPS would still be offline but just wondering.

When the TCAM is out, the car's Wifi doesn't work (as well as GPS, LTE, charging controls), so you can't use your phone as a hotspot to get data to the car. You can use bluetooth to get data to the car for streaming audio media, but the car's GPS and maps will still be nonfunctional.

For many the TCAM has not been an issue, but it has been a big headache for us. I was considering buying an XC60 T8 as our second car but don't think it's a good idea any longer.

...Dealers seem to be getting better at quickly repairing the problem. We've had a couple of recent reports here of TCAM issues being resolved at the dealer within about an hour. And there are rumors that an upcoming system update may take care of some of the failure causes.
I hope so. Ours has been a real pain in the a$$ this week. We're supposed to get ours back from the dealer in about 6-7 days, they took the car apart for the TCAM then decided to replace the sharkfin. But they need to paint the new one to match, so ten days with the car apart at the dealer during our planned road trip. The dealer kept stringing out our car's return date, so we couldn't book hotels in time (large cancellation fees).

Just dropped my car off at the dealer this morning for the 3rd LTE outage, Subwoofer died, Brakes locking up/Rotor/Pad issues, Grayed out Amp screen. Fun times. The service guy seemed clueless to the issues even after I told him about many having these issues. Heading for a Lemon-law suit. I am not a happy camper.

The TCAM in my brand new C40 partially failed just a day after I picked up the car; LTE and Volvo On Call were nonfunctional, but Bluetooth and WiFi still worked and I could use my phone as a hotspot. After four days without LTE I brought it in to the dealer for service, and in the process of following Volvo's instructions for resetting and reprogramming the TCAM, they rendered it completely nonfunctional and now it needs replacing. They say the TCAM is backordered and could take several weeks to arrive, so obviously I'm very disappointed. I'm baffled how this one module could still be such a big problem.
